  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I assume it must do other magical things as well that RED has yet to reveal.

The follow focus looks pretty awesome, I assume it'll work great.

Is it finished, are Tattoos going out with it?

Deanan tweeted earlier that the electronic mounts have full control over electronic lenses which would include aperture.

yes.. both Canon and Nikon ( The DSMC Nikon mount has a motor to drive the aperture lever )

Do the mounts (or the cameras) also have motors to drive focus on older Nikon & Canon AF lenses, or does DSMC autofocus require newer AF-S/USM lenses?

That is very neat. All the little things that have been revealed lately have really proved to me how much you guys learned from the first generation camera to the second.
 
Why would he shoot blonde hair on a green screen as a test? That's not a good option for this type of hair color. Also, he's got a few lighting issues on the green screen that he should have cleaned up before hand. The fabric has looks uneven and he's shoot the models right up against the background. That's going to create huge shadow and spill issues.

He made it look like that on the behind the scenes video so you don't learn and imitate any real techniques from him.

Great tactic to prevent people from ripping off your ideas!

Damn, Jarred, that is fantastic! The ability to use Nikon & Canon lenses without manual aperture rings opens up a whole world of affordable glass for Epic & Scarlet.

That's awesome! I never thought he was only pretending to make it look like an he doesn't know how to shoot green screen.

That's hilarious!, when I saw her that close to the green screen I was seriously thinking he must know some super secret green spill suppressor trick.

OK, I don't know crap about green screen, so this may be completely off base, but maybe it was just about composition? So they could get the photographer, model, and green screen all in the shot at once without having to be super wide?

I've just this week seen the mock up of the Panasonic 4/3 chip camera. The thing that separates Red from all the other manufacturers (and I mean ALL) is that they listen and think and learn and try to make the best camera instead of fobbing us off with some half-arsed rejig of the crap they're already selling us...

I try hard to maintain an unbiased, professional approach to gear and the companies that make said gear, but I'm afraid I'm sounding more and more like a Red fanboy. What can you do when you're shown an oversized DV camera with stills lenses, relying on focus rings, recording to AVCHD? WTF?!:banghead:

Every new camera announced by every other company just makes me want that Epic even more. Beta testers, make it so!
