  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Guillermo Del Toro departs “The Hobbit”

I know Cuaron is a great director, but I don't really like his approach to fantasy. Lots of people loved Prisoner of Azkaban, but I hated it.

Thats funny, I was thinking that the guy who directed Children of Men should do it and only after googling I learned that you were already talking of him, had no clue he directed a Potter movie. :D

I think you just need a solid storyteller good with actors. The crime they commit against these big movies is having a music video or tv commercial director do them. Put a bunch of visual visionaries around a good collaborative storyteller, I say.

I thought the best Harry Potter happened when they switched to the Director of Four Weddings and a Funeral (Mike Newell). Though Cuaron was fine too. The first Narnia was a disaster to me. Didn't see the second one.

Maybe it's just me - but I want good characters, story and acting more than another bitchin' whatever. Safe to say, the Hobbit is going to full of bitchin' whatevers even if a monkey directs it.

Isn't that technically sci-fi?

In any case, that long take at the end of the movie was stunning. Great movie.

There's also Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass)... Just don't let him touch the story...'
I read His Dark Materials Trilogy and I heard that Weitz wanted to make a 3 hour adaptation for the first film. I never saw the movie after I heard that New Line execs butchered it down to around 2 hours. Now it appears that the rest of the trilogy will never be made.
