10 Scarlet Questions from Joseph Hutson

Finally, a camera that I feel comfortable moving on from my DVX for. Wonderful!

Hey everybody! My questions would have included the battery pack:
What power option will be in the Fixed Scarlet bundle?

Any news about the s35 or FF35 Scarlets? How are those coming? Will that be far off from the fixed scarlets?

Indeed, good question. A rough estimate of the battery life would be valuable info as well. Also, base sensitivity of the 2/3" sensor.

«...from Joseph Hutson» -- I like that. The kid is a good friend.

Great news :)
Looking forward to my time freeze rig with Red One MX on one end and EPIC at the other with about 30 fixed scarlets in between and all cameras controlled via Ipad ;)

Manuel

Thanks for the questions, guys! And thanks, Jarred, for the answers!

Any reason why the actual focal length of the fixed zoom is still a mystery? Although, when I guessed about 6 months back that it would be a 7.5-60mm zoom and you said I was "close", it seems that I couldn't have been much closer without being right on. Hehe. :)

Whatever #21 is, I'll take two! Er... I think, or something like that.

Whatever #21 is, I'll take two!
I think this is the right number for any Scarlet 2/3" purchase. I've actually been persuading any 3D purchase from Jan/Feb (RED DAY Rome, remember?) 2010 on...to wait. South of Europe is under control. LOL

Yes...bring my precious to me... *gollum imitation*

And PICS! We needed them yesterday.

EUR/USD hovering at 1.26, down from 1.51 in December 2009... RED, take your time, no need to rush things.

Closer to 7.5mm :)

I think it was mentioned earlier that you will have a wide angle converter for the fixed. Will that be available right away? Any physical specs? (mainly diameter and length)

Will obviously be needed for underwater and a good one from you guys would be ideal.

Could get worse....

Yeah I kinda think they need to rush things a little...or at the very least move at an accelerated pace. I know you get crucified for drawing parallels with Scarlet and the 7D or 5D MkII but when corporations like FOX back the filming of an ENTIRE episode(and a high rating quality one at that)on the back of 'line skipping' DSLr technology...makes you think.

Sure the specs of the Scarlet blow any DSLr out of the water...but they are here today, sitting in stores while Scarlet is just specs on a website(to us anyway) When Scarlet is released in 6-12-18 months time and in any quantity of numbers...what gen technology will Canon be on? or Nikon for that matter?

On the flip side I truly hope all Canon and co have done is awaken the 'film maker' in the mass market populace. That all the 7D is doing is giving people the 'bug' so much so that when Scarlet is released they see what a 'real' camera is all about and 'level up'?

If there is one thing Canon knows how to do best its make money, its all well and good to be the pinnacle of perfection but a the end of the day Bills need to be paid which means Scarlet needs to sell...my fingers are crossed!

Sounds like things are coming along!

A bit disappointed with 7.5-60, I hoped for a little wider. Wish it'd been 6-48 (or heck, 6-30, I have a DSLR if I wanna shoot football games).

A shame the most cost-effective option isn't ideal for me, but I'm still a happy customer 'cause we have the Interchangeable + MiniPrimes option! Keep it up, Red.
