  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Youtube & Vimeo Encoding Settings

The most ridiculous compression I have been able to get is kicking out prores444 out of Premiere, and then going to Squeeze at x264 with whatever bitrate you need to (to stay under 500MB or whatever your limit is on Vimeo).

While it is possible to get better file effiency using x264, having an ultra high bitrate on an encoder that isn't as efficent will produce a very good result. If you're using the Mainconcept h.264 encoder out of premiere just saturate the bitrate untill it fills the maximum file size upload allowed.

On youtube it will depend on how long you've had your account for how large of a file they will let you upload. I use this bitrate calculator to determine what I should set my Video and Audio bitrates at:

http://dvd-hq.info/bitrate_calculator.php

Just set the media size to custom and enter in the megabytes your file can be. Youtube lists it on the upload page.
