  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Yet another Dragon SxS Helium Example

EXRs from REDCine-X are always linear.

Outputs to Nuke were EXR. So exporting one ISO vs another in linear is kind of pointless since it's just a multiplication in linear space. 1600 ISO is just an 800 ISO output with a 2.0x multiply on it. And the way that REDGamma is setup, it outputs well past clipping at 800 ISO in linear. But since it's EXR there is no clipping, it's just overbright data that I grade down.

Gavin, any artefacts when using Alchemy or Grain? I mean when exporting to EXR.

Yeah, they break the image entirely. Graeme, might make sense to disable those on EXR output.

Gavin and I want to cover EPIC Dragon, Weapon Dragon and Weapon Helium.

This would be great, I am still trying to find some differences between epic dragon and weapon dragon, just picture only to see what difference the newer tec brings.

So does the ISO affect the EXR or is the EXR basically the entire linear sensor data as is?
Yes to both. ISO affects EXR linear data. If a value is 0.25 at ISO 800 it's 0.50 @ ISO 1600. If a value is 1.25 at ISO 800 it's 2.5 at ISO 1600. ISO is just the multiplication of the value. Since EXR doesn't clip anything, the values just get very large at high ISOs.

And what primaries would these EXRs be based on?

The color primaries are based on the color science (DragonColor, RedColor, RedWideGamut etc...) that you selected.
