I am looking to get a fairly cost effective, reliable wireless Directors monitor setup. I've seen a few off brands that could be promising, but to me the Paralinx paired with a Samsung 27" 1080p LED monitor seems worthy. Looking to keep it under a grand. Any recommendations?

I have been using a paralinx with a blackmagic monitor for 2 months straight and its rock solid. I am feeding to another normal 'pc' hdmi monitor and both look fine. Not great in bright sunlight but otherwise no issues.

I third the Paralinx but I use the Arrow.

Ran into some issues using either a Samsung 22" for stationary or Small HD DP-4 for mobile.

I dont have any experience with anything else but I can tell you the Arrow + was worth it :)

I use a SmallHD AC7 OLED, with a Teradek Bolt Pro and an IKAN handheld rig, plus Panasonic DG-54 batteries. Works well, and is pretty inexpensive...

Nyrius aires pro works remarkably well for the price. If you have a few more bucks to spend, then the Paralinx, a few more bucks from there, go with the teradek.

Thanks, guys! I was debating SmallHD Directors Rig, but a little out of my price range at the moment. Mostly just for client observation and playback. I'll have to look up the range with the Paralinx and the Nyrius.

Paralinx is worth the extra few $ IMHO 1 > 1 but especially considering Arrow + will multi-cast...

Thank you,

I second the Nyrius, side by side it has the same range of a Paralinx Arrow (it is essentially the same circuit board in a "For home" case) You can buy 2 or 3 for the price of 1 Paralinx Arrow.

This has been discussed already and no, these units are not identical. One is a cheap reverse engineered attempt at a knockoff without the same antenna system, intelligence, robustness, and certainly not the support. Refurbished Arrow & + systems are available at a great price, & the warranty and support bring us much peace of mind for such a critical link in the production chain. And the knock off will never multi-cast...

Hope this helps,

I've been eyeing this because of the onboard power options http://www.kinefinity.com/shop/pro_wirelessmonitoring_solution/?lang=en

Priced at $1,290.
I have this one. I got it with a second receiver.
Very handy with onboard battery option as well a s7-17V power input range. No more frying 5V power inputs haha. It has a nice LCD display, connects very quickly and is very stable. It does show about 1-2 frame of latency but it could be my camera. I have to test.
Also the plastic housing, while light weight and pretty high quality- its not "rental" product level- it think the antennas and housing may get damaged pretty quickly by rental clients.
They also offer a 1000 ft SDI version- a lot more expensive (almost triple that) but that one is built like a brick shithouse. Definitely a rental level product. I haven't had the chance to test it yet- too busy working- but I should get to test the 1000ft module next week...

Regardless of it's origins, or whether the chicken or the egg came first, the nyrius is a pretty good option. I think the hdmi sillyness is the downfall of both systems. You can buy the paralinx crossbow which is a pretty cheap way to unfuck the system. I believe I have destroyed three nyriuses, and had it been paralinx, they would have broken just as bad, the HDMI is just a bullshit conector. I would be way madder if I had destroyed 3 paralinx systems. Since I got the crossbow I haven't killed one.

I have a drawer full of 2-$4000 video transmitters that suck . Transvideo titan, modulous, etc. I am all for spending as little as possible on video transmission because it is finicky, short lived, and soon to be replaced. Any way, that's video assists problem ;-)
