At the RED Store (RED.COM), you will find this:

BASE PRODUCTION PACK

Includes:

(1) UNIVERSAL MOUNT
(1) RED HANDLE
(1) BOTTOM PLATE
(1) SHOULDER DOVETAIL
(1) TOP MOUNT
(1) TOP HANDLE
(1) RED CRADLE
(2) 18-inch STEEL RODS

For a price of $1,250

However, in the Nov. 30th Announcement items such as the Side Handle, Bottom Handle, Base plate, Adds-up for almost $2,000. And that's without the rods, the cradle, the soulder dovetail, etc.

Isn't the Production Pack compatible with the Scarlet, or they will stop selling it? Anyone knows what's the deal?

Thanks.

The Base Production Pack was always a heavily discounted package which will get you shooting, and is still perfectly useable for personal use. It was also partly because RED had given it a target price which turned out to be an underestimate. The cradle is too bulky and heavy, provides no shock protection for the drive and the attachment is hard to use and needs tools. The baseplate is frustratingly non ARRI standard in terms of the wedge profile and will only work with the RED shoulder dovetail, and the shoulder dovetail has been found to flex some with heavy setups (although I've been fine with light to medium setups). The single red handle doesn't work well directly on a rod - it really needs to be used with the Red Handle Mount at the least, and preferably with a second red handle - but then it gets even heavier!

The top mount, bottom plate and shoulder dovetail will likely not be compatible with Scarlet.

However, people renting out to budgeted productions will usually want most of it replaced with lighter weight, or more familiarly styled third party accessories from Element Technica and others.
