What formats can you export from RED (redcine and redalert) software?

Is it possible to export any 4K format directly from the REDRAW data with red software?

If you can convert from 4K raw to 2K DPX files does it take a very long time? I know this relative due to hardware...but a idea would be nice?...

Only Red Alert is out now. That will export quicktime, DPX or TIFF.
Redcine will offer more choices and will be GPU accelerated.
Red Alert exports 78 frames per minute at 2k DPX on my machine.
It uses only 4 of the 8 cores yet, it's speed could be higher.
I suspect Redcine to be much faster, being GPU based.

I tested going to 8 cores and it didn't help the speed. What helps speed is a very fast drive array to write to.

So let me get this right REDCINE is not available yet for the public or the owners of the RED camera?

Whilst RED camera come with REDALERT which you can export other formats and view material but not much else?

mahvo: that is correct, camera also comes the Mac QuickTime codec.

As with've always stated we're in a production. This was made clear again to the first 50 camera owners when they picked their cameras up.

REDCINE is currently in a limited beta and we're making changes to it daily. It's looking pretty good thus far and will be released soon.

I find this whole afair very inresting, I think that RED images so far have been fantastic, but what makes a digital hardware (RED) really great will be the software that supports it (not putting pressure on you or anything...

If I knew when exactly I would've already told you. It will be available when it's ready, which will be soon. I don't think you have your camera yet?

From 4K -> 2K is always a lossy conversion, of course. You can select which filter you want to use for the down convert in REDCINE. Of course high-quality filters are available.

RED ALERT has a special 2K extraction mode that I don't think is the final form yet. It looks pretty damn good though!

Yes, and that's why we're writing software as fast as we can. Compare that to other camera manufacturers who let the post software companies do the writing and you can't really use the camera for the first 6 - 12 months....
