We're going to Cannes!!!
I'm excited to officially announce that the writer/producer Hamish Downie, executive producer Taeko Sato and myself will be heading to the 67th Cannes Film Festival this May with our film "An American Piano".
"An American Piano" is the true story of a young Japanese girl who played the piano for POWs during World War II and how it affected their lives. It is a story of humanity, compassion and the universality of music in helping to heal the rifts between wartime rivals.
The film was shot on my Red Epic in 5K WS in just two days, using Canon EF lenses.
We've been working hard behind the scenes to promote the film and this is just the beginning. The film is out of competition as it is too long for the 15 minute competition cutoff (we clock in at 22 minutes) but we will be using it to help promote our feature film about WWII as well as using the experience to get ready for 2015, when we aim to hit Cannes with 4-6 feature screenplays and hopefully a feature film in the can (unrelated to this story).
If you haven't already seen it yet, here's the trailer:
I look forward to sharing the journey with you so stay tuned, both here and via our official Facebook page:

Cheers from Tokyo,
Paul
