  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hey guys,

I've seen a few threads on this, but nothing recent.

My Weapon MG is painfully slow to boot. Currently taking 1.5 minutes (01:35). It's always been pretty slow, but these times seem abnormal.

Is anyone experiencing similar issues and/or have any recommendations on ways to improve this?

Running 7.0.3 with V-mount Base I/O expander, 512gb mini mag, DSMC2 Side Handle, EF Mount, Lemo A and 4.7 touch.
 
Have you performed a camera wipe and started fresh with your settings? There's a good chance there's something funky going on in there.
 
I'll have the same thing happen on Monstro from time to time on recent firmware. On the long waits I've hit 10 minutes.

I've re-firmwared and reworked modules, the only thing I can find is :

- Excessive heat in the environment where shooting will cause boot up to slow down.
- Using the battery belt clip in line with other devices, or any battery going into the AC in.

Are you starting it up with the mini-mag in already? Is the mag formatted for UDF? I have a 240gb mag, and it takes forever to mount on both the camera and for dumping footage when it's formatted in UDF.
 
Thanks for the input guys.

The 1.5 min boot up is with the 512gb card approx. 3/4 full.

Resetting didn't seem to do much.
However, I did some additional tests and found without an ssd inserted it booted up around 40sec.
Without a card and then mounting the ssd once initialized, it's approx 1 min totally to get to the point you can shoot.
With a partially full card inserted it reverts back to the 1.5 (which I expect majority of power ups will not be on an empty card). Seems crazy that it makes that large of a difference.

I'll look into any differences with it not being UDF formatted.
 
FYI, sent a ticket to RED and this was addressed. Had something to do with loaded presets on the camera. Back to the normal of ~40s
