  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

All,

Given the huge amount of information RED have had to communicate over the past 24 hours - not surprisingly there are some typos/ambiguities in the store pages that are possibly adding a little confusion.

Wanted to constructively flag these and see if others have spotted any so they can get fixed:

Image doesn't show CF Weapon with the Mg mount - although that is part of the package under 'included' tab

DSMC lens mount is not included in the 'included' tab - yet purchasers are told to send their DSMC PL mount back with their camera when upgrading. Also not clear what 'if applicable' means in the copy

Yeah, there has been some confusion but I am getting my head around this. Here's what I understand:

The wording on the website can be a little bit confusing. There is a $5000 accessory credit offer for those that want to purchase a new Weapon before the end of NAB and then pay that deposit within 10-days. This is applicable for new orders only - not upgrades.

There is a $5000 credit offer for those people that upgraded their EPIC to Dragon before NAB which is available to them whenever they upgrade to Weapon, not just for NAB.

The DSMC lens mount is an interesting one that got me confused. It seems the 8K Mount has a larger port hole in it, so if your moving from Dragon to CF Weapon, then you'll send your Mount in and they send a new mount with the CF Weapon. The Magnesium Weapon is still 6K so exhausting mounts should work, hence the 'if applicable'.

I'm sure the mods or RED will confirm if correct or shed light if its not, but this is my understanding now.

Yes, Brent, Bomb Squad and Web team should look into this ASAP. Its a big source of confusion. I also got an email with confusing information regarding the 5000 USD credit during NAB. I'm sure not every red owner out there comes to RED user, many of which due to language barriers. This could bring potential trouble and not satisfied costumers!
 
Best bet is to just chat with some one in Sales at RED. I just talked to my bomb squad Rep and the $5k credit applies to any Weapon camera ordered during NAB. And since they are only selling upgrades at the moment it just means the deal is for dragon owners wanting to do the trade in/upgrade. Also the $5k NAB credit can be applied to the purchase of the weapon, not just accessories. yes I asked him to clarify that twice, once I heard him say that... So I put my order in online & I just have to finish making the deposit by 4/23 and I'm golden for the NAB store credit.. making my potiental total account credit $25,500.. And then once my body is ready, sometime in the summer if I'm lucky, I send in my EpicX dragon and pay a balance of $9k for my new Mg Weapon. This is the way I understood it. I know it's all fuzzy math., but it's not a bad deal for basically a new red camera system.

Also, they ask that you to send in any mount with the old camera because they want to evaluate it and then mount it on the new camera which will be sent back to you. In any case, communications with your rep is always key.

Hi Patrick, to be clear - the 5K accessory credit can be used towards the upgrade price of the Weapon if the order is placed during NAB ? This I wasn't aware of.... Agree that discussing this all with my rep is the best approach, but for some reason they seem quite busy at the moment ;-)
 
Yeah WHATS UP WITH THAT? Is it NAB only?? Or does carry through past NAB? This is great news, PLEASE CLARIFY RED!

yes they are busy, but mine called me back twice. no disrespect, they are eager to sell as many cameras as possible..
