  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

vimeo staff pick -TOM FUGLE (shot on dragon)

Great video and character study. If you were looking to showcase cinematography, I would've liked to see more work with the color, as it visually looked soft and flat. Composition, shot select, and subject were great though.

thanks for the kind words everyone. when i have a moment i'll post a few stills that i pulled from the footage. i haven't yet attempted to learn how to use resolve, but as a photographer i'm a little more versed in color correction in photoshop. i agree the color needs work, but it could be that i also tend to prefer things a little 'soft and flat' for the most part i really like the image that comes out of the dragon as is. in most cases all i'm looking to do is to dial back the greens and ad just the slightest saturation in the reds for skin tone. apart from that, i really like it out of the box with redcolor3 or dragon color. i'm not sure that the magenta color at 2:04 has anything to do with the OLPF. i suspect that was simply the color of acetylene flame at that temperature, with the impurities of the metal.

i just wrapped filming on the epilogue, which will be appended to the video in a couple weeks once i've had a moment to edit it, and the composer has had some time to record an adjunct to the score.

great story, so this could have been shot on anything....happens to be dragon so we will never see the entire depth on the web anyway.....
great job!
