Hello good people. I have a Teradek RT system and I am trying to get the command control working. On dsmc 2 you just set the serial in the communication menu to rcp and away you go. On the raptor the serial is a different kettle of fish.

Has any one had an experience with this? It is the slightly older mdr unit. I don't care so much about the controls but the record stop is key.

Kind Regards
Ian

I have a Ctrl.1 and Latitude MDR - Teradek would need to update their firmware with RCP2 to trigger Raptor/Komodo via the Ctrl or EXT port. In theory you should be able to use the 3-pin fischer on a breakout box and set the hand unit to ARRI and get run/stop that way. I've only tested this with a Komodo with the Tilta Advnaced Power Distribution Module, but couldn't get that to work. Going to try soon with the Wooden Camera breakout - hopefully that will work.

I wish one of the follow focus companies would make something like the Arri OCU1 that I could use to pull focus on the Raptor with EF lenses (sans motor). This was a great feature on DSMC2.

Question
Can the RT Latitude MDR-M Run/Stop work with RED Komodo or Raptor?

Answer
The RT Latitude MDR-M was designed to use DSMC2(RCP1) protocol. Whilst the RED Komodo & V-Raptor uses RCP2 protocols. The Latitude will not work directly with RCP2 protocols. However, there is a work around.

With the RED Komodo + RT Latitude
You can use the Wooden Camera B Box using the DSMC2 4 pin to 5 pin trigger cable.

With the RED V-Raptor + RT Latitude
You must use the V-Raptor Expander Blade and use the ARRI standard GPIO protocol using the 3 pin Fischer trigger cable . This will only trigger Run/Stop.
