For anyone in the Tri-State area and Philly, UNIQUE PHOTO will have a 2 day camera show
on Dec. 11 & 12 at their stores in Fairfield, NJ and Philadelphia, PA.

Many recognizable names in photo and video will be exhibiting including RED.
Will be one of the few live shows actually held this year.

UNIQUE PHOTO has become my go to shop for both rentals (great rates) and equipment.
I bought my 2 Komodos from them and their support exceptional.

Hope RED has a Raptor or 2 there to check out.
Would be great to see some REDusers representing.

Check the show site for more info.

Brian, I'm curious, did you go to the Philly store or the Fairfield NJ location?

I've found Fairfield to be a bit of a mess. Their stock is slim, the employees are pretty rude and unhelpful, and (for the purposes of this forum) they advertise Red sales but don't know much at all about the cameras and ecosystems. I've met a small handful of kind folks who work there, but my overall personal experience has been overwhelmingly negative. They seem to be focused on Stills Photography, but whoever's in charge wants to compete with B&H, so they halfheartedly stock some video items as well.

I will say, the Rental Department is a different experience. Although their stock is also *very* slim, the Rental Dept employees are awesome. Knowledgeable and very helpful folks. All of my positive experiences at Unique are because of their Rental team. It's like the rest of the store exists within a different universe.

Hey Ryan,

I'm familiar with the Fairfield location.
I'm pretty surprised about the experience you have with the employees being rude.
I've shopped there a bit over the years and cant think of a situation I experienced like that.
TBH, because most of my interactions were more down to earth and personable it lead me
to making UP my primary place to purchase gear.

They are not going to have the extensive stock of a B&H but very few places in the US if not the world
have that type of inventory for film/video production gear.
B&H is great particularly if you're already in the city and need a piece of gear quick but schlepping there from NJ with transportation fees, parking, traffic etc made me appreciate UP that much more.
I'm actually close to both tunnels and it still ends up being a turn off for me.

I agree UP's rental department is quite good.

I've had some decent deep tech dives with some of the people there but don't know how extensive the knowledge base is across the staff. I would imagine, like many places, it varies.

No place is perfect but feedback is a good way to fix issues like this.
I would say drop them a line even if you just copy and paste what you wrote here.

I think they will hear any feedback out. My impression is they're hungry to improve.

One thing's for sure in our particular region we have a lot of options for getting gear.
