Finally, after more then 2 years of waiting, RED ONE #561 is here!

The Red cart was shipped a couple of days before on a wooden pallet. After unscrewing a couple of brackets by hand with a screwdriver, I thought this will take way too long. So I decided to use a crowbar and a hammer to open the crate. It made quick work to pop open, snapping in half a couple of screws in the process. I forgot that the carbon fiber rods that I ordered for the top aren't yet available so I couldn't add the top mount and side rails. I just put in an order for the 12" steel rods. I will post some more pics as soon as I get everything all set up.

Congratulations Curran!! I am very happy for you dude. Thanks for the pics... is that the "Gibby approved" Tamrac backpack btw?

Cheers brother!

Yup. I am very pleased that the 18" rods fit inside the "Gibby approved" Tamrac 5258. I only wish I had ordered the 12" steel rods instead of the carbon fiber (which are not available yet).

Hey Curran, have you looked at the Element Technica - Ultra Rods? The 12" rods go for $50 a piece- available in both 15mm and 19mm.

For example...

15mm Stainless Steel 12" length-- 240 grams.
15mm Ultra Rods 12" length-- 85 grams. (info provided to me by Element )

I have been using a set of the ET ultra rods. They are very light and very strong. IMO A much better choice then carbon fibre rods.

Thanks for the info about the ET ultra rods. Anything to minimize the weight would be great. This rig feels kinda heavy, or maybe I'm just not very strong. :weight_lift:

Curran, I have the ET Ultra Rods and they are indeed strong. I tried to bend them like one of those circus strongmen and they wouldn't bend. Okay, maybe I'm not that strong either. But they are light and are very strong, so I second that suggestion.

Congrats on getting the camera. It's pretty cool huh. Long time coming.

Steve

Phone them for now.

Stephen told me their online order site will be up soon.
