  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I'm waiting in line for my Red. In the meantime, I need to find some hardware to deal with my footage that I'm going to be shooting. I'm very likely going to be using an 8 core Mac Pro (probably 3.0GHz), with at least 8GB of RAM.

1. I'm shooting on 4k. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what kind of media storage system or extremely large hard drive I can store the raw 4K footage in? It's very big, so I need a lot of space. I'm talking anywhere between 30-100 hours of footage.

2. I was looking at the work flow for FCP. It says FCP is limited to only 10-bit color, while the Red shoots 12-bit color. What can I do to make sure my final product has 12-bit color, with all the right color timing/correction?

I apologize if these questions have been asked before. I don't come to this section of the forum too often.

1. I'l also curious what people have to say about this.

2. I'm pretty sure if you conform through RED CINE you get the full 12 bits, so edit with confidence :)
