Hi guys,

I'm looking to broaden my lighting kit (currently made up of 2 big LED panels, 3 small LED panels, and 2 150w HMI fresnels) to include some tungsten fixtures; and I'm thinking of putting together a basic open-face tungsten kit with something like 2x Arrilite 750+ fixtures, and 1x Arrilite 2000+ fixture.

I realise it's kind of a classic redhead/blondie combo, but I'm wondering if anyone has specific experience with these Arri heads, and could share their thought on their usefulness?

Cheers

If you're adding open-face lamps the Arri's are great. I have the 1K and 2K lamps and they're better built than the standard redheads/blondes. The flood/spot mechanism has stayed smooth and I get more output from them than the Strand's. Great lights for behind frames or to fill a Chimera bag.

I just mentioned these in another thread. I have a 4 light Arri kit with all 1K open faced heads. I am very pleased with them. Most of the time I have 600w bulbs in 2 of them. Less draw on location circuits and still plenty of output. Great for bouncing and through silks/grid cloth. On wide shots when I use harder light, they work well. No regrets here.

I will add that on the few occasions that I may need a 2k I will rent one. But I rarely use a 2k tungsten on interiors anymore.
