Just saw this on FCP.co. This is a buried new feature but could mean a lot to Redusers out there shooting ProRes alongside R3D.

FCP.co

We should, through a small tool be able to import the R3D and connect the camera generated proxy files. And using the new LUT workflow, if you have both shot in LogG310, apply a RED provided Rec709 or Rec2020 LUT and make color decisions, all of those will work on both.

Who is going to develop the tool? I am going to do some testing over Christmas break.

Please Do Gunleik. I think this will be a killer feature once implemented.

I see working with 2K ProResLT in RWG/L3G10 and using the LUT features in FCPX Edit. Once I am done editing, just switching to Original Media and using full 8K R3D.

Can you PM me a step-by step description of what you want here.

You can have proxies from the camera or from Qi on ingest in RWG/L3G10...

Even the proxies from the QuineBox should work just fine.

So what exactly do you need here?

Not sure what we have to do. But this is in the release notes

"Third-party asset management systems can now send low-resolution media to Final Cut Pro through XML import and later replace those low resolution files with full resolution files through another XML import"

Apple obviously has not released any information on this. not sure how it will work.

Can shoot ProRes 2k and r3d in camera, import both, edit ProRes then relink to r3d.

I am getting in bed with Apple and AVID these day (and blackmagic). I guess I'll get the info needed.
