Hi guys.
I have a question about TC and syncing RED with Tascam HD-P2.

I have 3 options here:
1) best: SLATE
2) An xlr timecode in that I really don't know how to hook up (and this is my question)
3) WC in / Video ref - that looks like a standart BNC

I really do not know how to connect options 2 and 3 to the Cam and I was reallt surprised that the TC socket in the HD-P2 is a XLR!

Does any1 know how to hook up these two?

ThaNK YOU!

I used to have one of these recorders. It can take TC in but it does not output TC. It has a 24 fps frame rate and the manual says it is compatible with HD so it should support 23.98, but I never tested it with sync sound. I sold my Tascam as it was just a little clunky to use and really didn't have XLR line inputs. The line input switch activates the RCA line input jacks and to use XLR's in line mode you have to use the pad switches on the XLR inputs to -20 dB and leave the mode in Mic level. Not the most intuitive interface.

I bought a BNC - 3 Pin XLR cable from a Location Sound in Burbank CA. I also later picked up a solid metal connector that had both BNC and XLR . XLR Timecode inputs are usually found in studio audio equipment. You have to get Lemo to XLR conversion cables which everybody dealing with TC gear usually end up needing anyway.

I just searched at Markertek and I think this might work, might want to call to make sure.
