  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Tangent Wave

The Color users I've seen talking about this panel don't seem so confident... Apparently Color only supports Ethernet panels, so either Apple will have to write a USB interface, or Tangent will have to make a Ethernet version or some sort of Ethernet converter for the Wave.

[Edit: Actually, in theory it shouldn't be that hard to emulate the Ethernet connectivity in software on the host computer, so that could be Tangent's solution]

Hopefully Tangent will provide the ethernet support or some solution. As long as it's not dependent on Apple. I'm not too confident that Apple will come up with any solutions within a respectable timeline. Not a knock on Apple, they could be understandably understaffed and swamped with work. I'd really like to use this with Color. If Tangent can make it rock solid with Color, I'd buy it.

Old topic, but I have been using a Wave with Scratch for 3 long days now and love it.

I can't imaging ever going back to a mouse/tablet/keyboard only solution for coloring. This simple device has changed my world! I highly recommend it based on the price.

I can see where heavier hardware can make for a nicer piece of equipment hence the cost of the larger panels, but for 1750 there is nothing else out there.

Didn't see it mentioned here but there is a new driver for colour 1.5 from Tangent for the wave panel. Iridas will also support it in their 2009 OnSet grading software.
Hope to see it on the IBC this year.

interesting review! Jorgen
