Strange artifact on dragon

Hello everyone
I noticed this strange artifact in just one frame of my footage. Did anybody encounter that kind of thing?

I have seen this. In my experience it was more a debayer issue. Try a different version of redcine.

If it's just one frame, and doesn't recur then could indeed be a random event like a neutrino, although likely would need a cosmic particle which interacts more strongly than a neutrino! :smile:

Kinda. Monochrome gets these more so I investigated quite hard a while back... and actually if you know what to look for ALL cameras get these. Its a hit from a charged particle on the sensor.

If you're really lucky / unlucky you get to see them bounce of the surface and leave a telltale shape like this.

Hi Randall,

A response to your question from our equipment editor:

"These artifacts are common in digital photos, but they aren't neutrinos,
they are electrons from the radioactive decay of the glass "cover slip"
over every digital detector. They are much more common in CCD imaging
(they appear in practically every one of my un-processed photos) because
of the long exposures common in astronomical imaging, and are mistakenly
referred to as cosmic ray hits."
