Hello!
I am currently finishing up editing on my student thesis film shot on the RED. The film will be screened along with the other theses in a large theater at the beginning of May. It must be completed by early April. The film is a quiet, meditative piece, much in the style of Tsai Ming-Liang. It will be no more than 12 minutes long.
I am in search of both a sound mixer and a colorist to help me with the final stages of post production.
I have been in contact with a sound mixer who offered me a deal of $450 for a long day's work (i.e. from 9AM until whenever the film is fully mixed). A hungry student, I am looking for rock-bottom prices. Meeting or beating $450 would be awesome. On the sound mixing front, you should have some facility for watching and listening to the film, and have some experience with sound mixing previously. The film will be screened in a giant auditorium, and the sound must be mixed appropriately for that space. More than anything else, I have never been through this process before, so having some patience with me, and also a willingness to do things creatively is imperative. I will be asking many questions.
On the colorist front, I have no idea what this should/would cost, or what the parameters of the job are. I don't think this would be a huge job. You should have some experience with coloring for cinema, and especially, some history with RED footage. Again, I am not familiar with this process, and you will have to be patient with me. Also, you will have to understand the final stages of the workflow and be able to output the film into a number of different formats.
We will likely be doing the mixing and the coloring at the tail end of March and the very beginning of April. You would have to have time free around then.
If a job like this interests you, please email me: nick.singer@gmail.com.
Thanks so much!
