Hi everyone,

I'm getting more and more into sound design and I was wondering if you guys knew of some great and active online communities/forums. I haven't been able to find anything but surely there must be something out there completely dedicated to the art!!!

For instance I'm looking to buy a few more sound libraries and I'd like to get advice from pros and such.

Thanks!!
G

Hello Gabriel

That's a really good question since I had to visit other sound designer's web sites for information. While producing my film "Dead Lonesome" I went to sites like therecordist.com, soundtracker.com, and even the Vermont Folklife Cnter, vermontfolklifecenter.org/archive/res_audioequip.htm for advice on how to record pristine audio in the field. A good forum is needed.

Gabriel,
My two favorite, and the forums with the most users are:
http://www.gearslutz.com/board/post-production-forum/
-- gearslutz is a gear for music forum... but, this is the post production section. Very knowledgeable people there.

http://duc.avid.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8
--- this is the support for Avid's Pro Tools, and specifically this sections deals with post and surround. Since Pro Tools is the far and away most popular software for post sound, this is where many experience people hang out.

In both of these places, search is your friend, and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Those are great guys! Thanks a bunch.

Keep them coming if you have other ideas.

G
