  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

UPDATE:

Support emailed yesterday and sent me hard reset instructions. It's all sorted now. Just so you know, the files they sent didn't work. Adding the "reset" folder to the SD card did work and set the monitor back to its original state.

I sent this to SmallHD: Please, please, let people know on the firmware page of your website know of this problem. If I was on a job and this happened, I would have been without a monitor. Thank you for getting it sorted for me quickly.

I have two SmallHD monitors. I installed the "stable" update of the new OS 5 and my monitor is bricked. Luckily, only my Focus OLED and not my CINE 7 with Raptor Control. Specifically, DO NOT add the anamorphic tool to all pages. The monitor will crash. This has been a problem I made SmallHD aware of in July. Previously, the monitor would just crash. I thought I would see if they fixed the problem with OS 5 and now my monitor is bricked. I personally would stay away from the "stable" OS 5 altogether, but definitely do not add anamorphic to "all pages". It will crash your SmallHD monitor and possibly brick it.

If anyone knows how to do a hard reset on a SmallHD monitor, please let me know.

Sorry to hear about your problem, I hope you can get it sorted out. The EL Zone false color overlay in OS 5 looks incredible.

SmallHD emailed yesterday and sent me hard reset instructions. It's all sorted now. They said they are working on a fix for the software bug and in the meantime, told me not to use the anamorphic feature "on all pages".

Oh, and the EL Zone is working for me on both my monitors.

It is working for me. Do you have your "Color Pipe" set to "Log3G10"? I don't know why they release new software without a new manual.

what kinda monitors? I'm not talking SMALLHD CINE 7 or other SMALLHD Monitors.

When setting up your EL Zone, are you feeding it LOG or do you have LUT/Look assigned? If you’re outputting LOG from the V-Raptor, do you use the built-in LUT that comes with the Cine7 or have you loaded a custom LUT?

I’m running the Cine7 and I’ve sorted out the color pipe and all that - I just can’t seem to find confirmation if you feed EL Zone a LOG or LUT’ed image for the values to work properly.

No its not working.I was talking to red for the last couple of months and nobody knows whats going on with this.
First Red support said it's available and they showed me the SmallHD website and then i said no because i cant find it anywhere on OS5 with DSMC3.I reached out to SmallHD and they told me that its not gonna be available on Red DSMC3 because RED is blocking them and Red wants to keep using gio scope instead of El Zone.
