I am starting to understand why they charge $100k for a gyro stabilized car mount. It's funny how many things can go wrong on a shoot, but a great learning experience to prep me for the next time.

I can see several instances that an EPIC would be much better suited to properly capture these shots. A 6k Dragon Epic with 48fps HDRX would be my dream way of shooting. My programer wrote Lock&Load for coremelt and had istabilize app before that. I asked what would be involved in changing the tracking to use the lines on the road to fix the issues with trying to stabilize ( I beta tested for him so Im pretty familiar with tracking issues and use Syntheyes as a hobby ) as I have tried a few apps with not a one able to handle driving footage. It would need a custom solution and my programer did not think a big enough market exists and I have to agree, sadly.

I had some issues with the redmote locking up on me. When it worked it was amazing to adjust the iris on the eos lens in flight, when it stops working.. well it's a show stopper. I love being on the cutting edge, but sometimes you have to bleed and work through the challenges.

I had a 160w inverter that I was afraid would croke from the 150w camera power supply... AND it did. And since I only had 64gb cards, there was no way I could get it all in one pass without swapping cards.

I also found the Tokina lacking at 4k. I really cant expect a $600 lens to compete with real cinema glass. The lighting also pushed the sensor to the limits and f2.8 does not cut it for the night shot either. I did see there is a rebate on the new canon cine primes for $900 off. But here is my issue, I cant decide which mount to get as I will surely have to have an Dragon Epic PL 6k but my scarlet is Canon mount. I hate the idea of having to get a PL mount on and off my scarlet to change lens between the PL and L glass. Of course I could just get an epic pl now and the cine glass and wait for dragon...
