  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Short Film I shot.

Nice man! Looking forward to it!

heres a couple of stills I found.. its near the start of the rigging.. I had a few bounce boards rigged up, Shiny side and unbleached muslin. I was trying to get enough light into the car, yet give it a really natural appearance, I also Had to shape the light a few times as the sun did quite a bit of moving around. Heres my Key Grip and the car owner starting the rigging.

also when we were doing the side shot through the window.. I was actually on a long board skateboard holding onto the camera rig, to start and stop the camera and pull focus on a few shots (which we ended up not using).
it was pretty gnarly actually..

Nice! Looks like it was a fun project!

HA!! Please tell me someone snapped some BTS shots of that!

Looks great. Did you use any LEDs or flo tubes inside the car? And did you ND the windows? if so, what level of ND was used?

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you!
I did use 1ftx1ft LED lamp to bring up the level of the dark seats inside the car,
I did NOT ND the windows, I was able to bring enough light in from bouncing the sun to where I found a decent sweet spot exposure.
If I can remember correctly, I used a .6 in the mattebox

You mean you had bounces inside the car aimed at the subjects?

the sun was 12 oclock during the interior shots.. so I actually rigged up bounce boards outside of the car, with various suction cups/cstand arm type set up.. it worked out pretty well.. only had a few times where they moved and fluttered light on the actors, but I caught that while shooting so we just re-secured and went again..it looked ridiculous.. but it worked
