Hi all!

In the near future we're going to be putting together a small production in Vancouver, and are looking to gain insight and possibly collaborate from those who live or work there. After our last experience shooting in BC, I've been dying to get back there and do more work!

Right now we're working in Los Angeles, so we're a little tied down at the moment, but we're casting a few lines to see who is out there.

Right now our big questions are:

1. Is shooting in downtown affordable on a 'lower' budget? (plazas, public parks, etc) Or does anyone have experiences they could share about shooting there?

2. Any downtown locations you would recommend?

3. How would you compare it to shooting in the US, if you've shot here as well?

We shoot guerilla when we need to, but proper channels are definitely needed for this particular production (fake weapons, etc). If you guys have any footage you have that you could share, I would be very interested in checking it out. Obviously, we'll be shooting on RED... enough said!

Any advice or comments on this would be greatly appreciated!

I live about 40 min out of vancouver. If you guys need some help or something on set id be glad to help. Im just looking for some experience. Im no tour guide but i could help to point out some cool locations. Im curious, what are u guys shooting (footage wise)? I would absolutly love to be on set with a red crew.

I live about a ten minute walk from downtown. I moved here from Vancouver Island about a week ago ( have a couple of art galleries representing my fine art photography out here). I just literally got home from a many hours long walk/scout of the downtown area; cracked a beer and saw your post. Well, unless you're shooting Little House on the Prairie, it's an awesome city with a great contrast of lifestyles living more or less shoulder to shoulder. From the down and outs on East Hastings and its many alleys, to the nearby shining towers of wealth overlooking mountains and ocean. And from what I hear ( I have a few connections in the film community) it's a very film user friendly place.

Like Jeremy says: it would help to know what you're looking for, genre, etc..
Jeremy, where do you live?
