hey yall
ive been getting several requests to shoot projected images and images off of colorists' broadcast monitors. this introduces a scrolling effect. I realize that I need to be shooting at a frame rate that is similar or a multiple of the output frequency of the monitor, and that works so so. also ive been requested to shoot these using the 5D...with such a limited range of shutter speeds i cannot wholly eliminate the scrolling, dark lines or lighter bars.
would this be improved if shooting of the red?
they are looking to retain the texture that you get by pushing into the monitor but i need to avoid distortions.
let me set up a scenario
My shutter speeds on the 5D have been sittin low, around 1/30-1/60, with 1/30 yielding the best results so far and results getting worse beyond 1/60. On plasma screens Im not having a problem.
The post-producer wants to know if I need to bring in a RED to get it just right. I'd like to since i can swap over to shutter angle rather than shutter speed which may give me more flexibility.
any other suggestions? Id like to be confident i can get this right before they drop a bunch of cash on another camera system.
let me know if i need to provide any more details. i appreciate yalls help!

FCP output through Kona card either 1080psf 23.98 or 1080psf 29.97 to a sony HR Trinitron broadcast monitor (Sony BVM-A20F1M 20" http://www.sony.co.uk/biz/product/bvm/bvm-a20f1m/overview)which is outputting either 48hz or 60hz respectively.
RED/5D set at 24.98fps or 29.97fps (based on output frequency). Will changing the time base on the RED help me out at all?My shutter speeds on the 5D have been sittin low, around 1/30-1/60, with 1/30 yielding the best results so far and results getting worse beyond 1/60.
