  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

SCRATCH 9.2 with Metal R3D GPU decode

I think in Scratch 9.2 you may have to select in "System Settings"> "Advanced">"RED GPU Mode" what you want to use if it's not already done for you in Scratch on the Mac. On the PC you have a couple of options. And maybe the "R3D Metal Batch Size". Plus two other R3D settings that will be important.

If the GPU mode is not set (or set to Auto) then then Scratch will try to use the best option. On the Mac that is Metal with GPU decode, on Windows with NVIDIA that is CUDA with GPU decode or OpenCL for AMD or others. In most cases it should not be needed to enable this setting.
For systems with multiple GPUs Scratch will by default not use the GPU used for color processing for Metal (or CUDA) R3D GPU decoding. If you want to enable all GPUs or select specific GPUs for R3D decoding then you can enable the GPU devices setting and enter the GPUs you want to use.
There should be in most cases be no need to enable the Metal batch size setting, Scratch will try to determine the optimal batch size.

Alright then Guido, still learning it so thanks for the info.
 
I'm planning to put a video out there, going over all these settings, should you be required to touch them.
