I gotta throw it out there.... Is there any benefit that I'm missing for RED ONE over Scarlet? Isn't Scarlet, at this point, pretty much a RED ONE in a different package? Arguably better package?

Yeah, my thoughts as well. I wonder if there will be a price drop on the Red One- Scarlet-X seems a bit more flexible in my opinion. -unless I'm missing something

scarlet has a higher data rate, higher dynamic range (same DR as epic), presumably better signal to noise ratio so better ISO / noise floor functionality. and future ability to do hdrx in 24fps with free firmware upgrade. I'd say at this point Scarlet-x is more powerful than Red One MX

If anyone is letting their red one go for less than the price of scarlet I'll gladly buy it!

Its a pretty interesting situation - I was planning on renting a One for a production coming up next year, but when it was all said and done, with insurance, I was looking at a couple thousand dollars with all the PL glass and insurance... which is making me stop, think, and realize I could just buy the scarlet kit and throw all my EF glass on it for a bit more (a good bit more, but it would be a hell of an investment and smarter than dropping a couple grand for 2 days of rental, camera tech day rate, and glass...).

I was mostly wondering about data rate vs One, was a bit worried about that, but it seems the Scarlet is even higher, indeed. Add to that it being a lighter and smaller thingy, and 12fps 5k stills. Brilliant.

RED ONE has 4.5K at 30fps, whereas Scarlet only does 4K 30fps. RED ONE does 60fps at 3K, whereas Scarlet does 48fps. RED ONE has 120fps 2K whereas Scarlet only does that at 1K. Then there's the 4 mini-XLR inputs on the RED ONE that you don't get on Scarlet without a module.

Scarlet has some advantages though - form factor, 1 - 12 fps 5K mode, HDRx, DSMC compatibility (better mounts, modules, etc.). Those things would probably make me lean towards Scarlet, even if the RED ONE was closer in price.
