Hi all. . .

In looking at the technical specifications, both cameras are listed as having the same dynamic range (80) and same number of stops (16.5).

Compression would seem to be the biggest difference, with the Scarlet Dragon 8:1 at 5K and Scarlet-W at 5:1 at 5K (both at 24fps).

What is the visual difference between 8:1 and 5:1. It sounds like a lot. Is it? I'm used to shooting a RED One MX at 4K, 42 REDCODE.

Thanks.

Stephen

I can see a difference in 5:1 vs 8:1 in my hair, when my head is moving in close-up shots.
I did a test of different compression rates for a green screen project and there were tiny red specs of random noise that appeared when compression was higher than 6:1.
