Looking to rig out my scarlet-w but I'm not seeing much. Am I missing something?

What I've seen so far...
  • Wooden Camera - The baseplate, rails is fine, but I'm not a fan of the top plate. Looks bulky with limited functionality. Not sure it adds much.
  • Tilta Rig - love this design, especially the monitor arm, but my concern is that you have to add their battery module on top of the i/o. Seems to add bulk for no reason.
  • Movcam - i love the design, but is this like a hidden treasure? There are limited pics and info, even on Movcam's site.
I prefer a light, compact set up that gives me monitor flexibility. I already have the side handle, so I just need a good top handle, base for rails, and some extra rigging points up top so I can put a 7 inch Small HD on there via my noga with a clean output.

Any feedback or thoughts are appreciated.

Very Pleased with my wooden camera top and bottom plates, wooden Gold mount cable-less, and my OMOD POE.

I have no need for the OMOD POE, but I love their stuff. In fact, I was checking out their top plate.

For wooden cam, are you using the EVF with it? I don't use an EVF, and I'm wondering (besides price), what's the advantage over the movcam?

I dig the look of the Movcam. Is RED coming out with toplates for DSMC2? Just like the ones for DSMC1.
http://www.red.com/store/products/tactical-top-plate-20

I dig the look too, but I can't find any real info on it. Nobody seems to have it, and pics are scarce.

I don't think RED Is coming out with peripherals like that for the DSMC2 line. I think that's why they opened it up to 3rd party vendors. Anyone else know for sure?

be aware.. i ordered the MOVCAM kit back in june.. they sold me the baseplate because it was in stock and said the rest would be the following week. Its not middle of october and still NOTHING..

they keep telling me different stories. 3 weeks ago the CEO even told me I was going to get a full rig (even though they are not shipping I would get a floor/demo model) but its been 3 more weeks. I called 1 time and they said 1 more week. I give up.. I am getting my $ back and leaving MOVCAM in the dust..

What are u talking about, the dsmc2 wooden camera top plate is extremely functional and is easily the best solution for monitor flexibility, and you get an arri trigger port also, easy decision

Edit: just saw your not talking about Red monitors/evf, if u were the WC is the best

Don't buy movecam until it's in stock unless you want to wait indefinitely, seems to be a theme with movcam/tilta

Thanks. That makes that decision easy.

Hey, can you still use the 4.7" monitor cable less setup with the WC top plate?

They make one with a pogo pass-through to allow the use of the monitor on top, but you lose the LEMOs and the Fischer.

Thank you. I saw that, but I just assumed it was a plate with zero functionality. Upon closer look I see what you mean. Maybe that's the way to go then. I really only am looking to add mounting holes for my noga with as little weight/interference as possible.

Just jumping in to follow the thread. Also curious about Scarlet-W rigs.
