About to pull the trigger on a Rifa Lite for a client that does a lot of apple style videos against white background of talking heads. I used a rifa lite a couple years ago and thought it was great, but don't have much experience with this type of light and wanted to know if something better or easier or cheaper etc has been brought to the market since then. Any comparable products? or is rifa a good stand-by to own no matter what?

Tungsten light is getting old fast. I would lean towards newer phosphor or plasma based lighting like Cineo or Hive. HMI are still work horses too. More powerful LED are emerging every yearns well.

Rifa lights are great. Only draw back is they are a little fragile and take a long time to cool down, but the quality of light is excellent, and they are very controllable with an egg crate.
