Hi ,

need expert help.

2x128 gb SSDs were formatted on an Epic and shot once over it.
We realized the footage was not copied earlier. Is there a possibility to recover that footage ?
I know it can be if its just formatted, but here camera operator went one step over and recorded on top of it.

So the SSD was formatted and recorded once, is there a way or has it ever been recovered before ?
Anyone ever been in this situation and come out of it successfully.

Please help me out,

Thank you,
Aaranyan

if they filled the card on the over recording, there isn't much hope. but if they didn't, there is a good chance something will be recovered. Maybe even something from a couple jobs ago. Make sure you are using REDUNDEAD corrextly. You have to enter everything EXACTLY as printed in the instructions.

I would talk to Red about it, if anyone can save you then can, open a support ticket. You can try red undead but if its mission critical id just beg red to help. Recording over it doesn't help the situation to be honest, or if its worth it professional data recovery service could be an option but its going to be expensive... PS if you need a good DIT I'm free and got some good references if you need someone...

It all depends whether the new footage has overwritten the old footage. With SSD wear levelling, there isn't a linear filling up of SSDs, so if only a few short clips were recorded there is a chance of recovery of some of the old footage.

But as Nate said, if they filled the card with new recordings, there's really no chance of recovery.

Red will be your best source of advice though.

Thank you all for your inputs, It was 128 SSds and 115GB of data was over written. So basically it has been filled with data. It is a very critical footage for us, as it involves reputation more than the cost involved in re-shooting it.

I have send a mail to my Bomb squad (Katie), can someone from RED pitch in and let me know if they can help in anyway.

Thanks.
