At RED Studios as one of the assistants to Santa Fe workshops.
They are holding a 3D workshop for the week, we are on day 3 and
today is hands on 3D rigs.

I took it literary.

This is the Quasar rig by Element Technica. It is one of the favorite rigs by many operators.

Sturdy, strong, ridged and works wonderful.
Currently has 2 REDone cameras installed with RPP lenses.

I didnt know they were gonna take some pictures but they did.
Its pretty easy to move around. ( for me =)

My number is ...

BTW I LOVE THIS 3D Stuff so much. Its by far my favorite evolving technology and challenging does not cover how complex it can get.

Thanks for not cropping me out of the photo. For comparison sake, I am 5'8" and the rig is about half the size and weight of me. But the scarlet on the neutron are amazing and hand hold able by little people.

I understand guys,
for those of you who cannot hand held or over the shoulder the Quasar the Neutron and Atom are BAD ASS.
coyne has had my back at every turn every location everything everywhere in the last 2 weeks
REDUCATION and 3D Workshops by Santa Fe.

Coyne should never be cropped out.

No doubt, he's very good people. Now somebody please get both of you some time with a good masseuse!

Please give my regards to Chris and the folks at Red Studios...

Cheers,
Clint

That looks miserable to me. The 3ality setup seems a lot more practical to my eye. Is there something wrong with the 3ality shoulder setup that I haven't heard about? There's got to be a reason red went with the Quazar over the other.

This picture is not a representation of RED choosing one over the other. This is just me moving a Quasar around.
I think Red likes something about all the rigs I cannot speak for RED but i can say this workshop had multiple rigs from all manufactures willing to show up.
ET was one of them and the ET stuff was awesome so were other rigs also.

3ality is very well respected and used on Spiderman.

hope that help

Thanks. All of the photos I'd been seeing have been of the Neutron/Quasar persuasion so I assumed that's what RED decided to use as the teaching tool for the 3D workshop we've been hearing so much about. I have yet to see photos of anyone using a 3ality from the workshop, but I'd like to. The only real photo I've seen of the thing fully configured is a profile shot where much of it is obscured by the guy's head.

What Lou is showing in the picture is NOT indicative of the operators usage of the rig. The Quasar is not nor ever considered a hand held rig. You would just as likely hand hold 3Ality's TS-2 then the Quasar. Quasar is designed for RED One, F23/35, Genesis, Phantom, 1500s, T-blocks, Alexa, etc. Lou is just showing to the crowd that he is a big guy with a strong back. The workshop itself was not a RED work shop and other than supplying the stage, had very little to do with it. It was all put together by Santa Fe Workshops.

I do not believe 3Ality showed up at the workshop although I did not visit on Saturday so my information could be wrong.

Thanks Casey it was cool to see you too.

Ok All we were doing is moving the equipment from one end of the room to another.
The correct way to transport it was with two people and proper support.
The Quasar is a nice size solid rig and not hand-held by any means.
How ever i felt completely fine to hold it myself and bring it from one end of the room to the other while the sticks were brought over by an assistant.
It was a funny moment and a few people popped out cameras and took pics.

3ality tried but were unable to show up.

Reason you see so many pics on the Neutron , Qusar and Atom is simply because ET was off the hook, they brought all the rigs on their own time, they showed up just about every day. Several people from their camp came threwout the days helped they would talk and teach about 3D and the rigs.
I got hands on work with Element Technicas and they just kicked ass.

Thanks.
