By examining the REDCINE.log file, I discovered that on one machine the application was not using both cores of a dual core processor. To solve the problem, I wrote a small batch file with the -p2 directive added and used this to launch RedCine instead of the desk top icon created when the application is setup. With the batch file, it now uses both cores and exhibits improved processing throughput by about 35% - 40%.

I would recommend that everyone running XP check their log file and confirm that all available cores are being utilized.

Are you running a hyper-threading processor by any chance? Can you attach your *original* (without your fix) log file?

Hi Rob,

The pre fix log is attached.

Kevin

Thanks, I'll take a look
