I'm one of those people chomping at the bit for the release of RedCast for DSMC2. The DSMC1 version of RedCast offered live UHD output along with control and communications protocols needed in hard line EFP scenarios - including SMPTE fiber for long cable runs.

At the same time, I'm looking at Mark's OMOD products and seeing very valuable capabilities that I am sure will be useful in my world. Reliable on board time code, integration of the Teradek COLR engine, wireless TX, XLR with knobs and so much more.

Can the DSMC2 platform support both an OMOD module and RedCast module simultaneously? If not, I sure hope the DSMC2 RedCast module supports a decent subset of what the OMODs can do... (for example, RedCast for DSMC1 has zero audio support)

The droid I'm looking for may not appear at NAB2016, but a loaded OMOD with a live 2160/60P spigot would rock hard. Just sayin'

No idea what RED will show at NAB, but, RedCast (live UHD module) for DSMC2 has been hinted at.

Can you mount both a RedCast module and another module (Base Expander, OMOD, etc) at the same time?

If not, is RedCast the only way we will ever get live UHD out of the DSMC2 platform?

Is it possible to include live UHD output on a deluxe expander or OMOD?

Still hoping for RedCast or similar module for DSMC2. Having live, SMPTE compliant UHD output from the DSMC2 bodies would open up more opportunities to keep our cameras busy so we can make our payments. RED lit the candle on the 4K party, please stay the course now that the industry is joining the fun...
