Call All Toronto, GTA, and surrounding area RED Users,

We have a date and location for our next Meet-up!!

Please RSVP here, our facebook group, or PM me to attend. It's free and a lot of fun chatting toys, the industry and our weapon of choice "Red".

The style is simply an "open roundtable forum" but this time we have a Studio (brought to us by Mr. Bob Gundu) where we'll be able to do a few tests, demos, and even possibly a wireless shootout!

I'll again bring coffee and donuts...and this time you all better finish them...ha, ha (no leftovers for me please). I truly hope you all can come. First-timers are more then welcome.

Topics of Discussion:
- Red Dragon
- Best shoulder Rigs
- The Hobbit, HFR, 3D
- Show and Tell
- Stuff for Sale
- Current projects and activities
- and anything else Red

Hope you can book around your gigs or come after! Looking forward to some great discussion.

Hi Folks, only 1 week before our meet-up. Please reply here to RRSP (so we can make sure we have enough donuts and coffee) or join our Toronto facebook page and RRSP there. Either way, I'll tally up and hope we again meet some new folks and have some engaging stories!

Thanks,

Wil Wong

Ha, ha. I always do that. RSVP...ha, ha.

Why am I just seeing this now? I'm going to try to make it, but I can't promise because of how close it is.

Anyone have one of those inexpensive steady cams making the rounds? I'd really like to try flying one to see how it feels.

Hi Wil,
I'll be there, I'll bring a RED FOCUS if anyone is interested.

OHHhhhh, man... RF only has a PL mount right? It'd be nice to check our cameras backfocus to ensure it's proper (I think it is, but it'd be nice to double check.)
That's right, it is a PL mount device.

Alright, I think I can make it, but I won't be bringing any kit (except maybe a REDmag). If possible, could someone with a Rokinon set (preferably cine, but I don't think it'd matter too much) bring their softest lens (presumably the 24). I was hoping to get a few frames to see how they hold up wide open.

Hi Mike, Feel free to join the Facebook group. I don't have your last name so I didn't add you in yet but please click on the link.

Great to hear from you Glen and Peter! I'm hoping that a few new faces will join us (that I haven't met) but it's reasurring that I won't be stuck in a room alone with donuts...ha, ha. Oh wait, Bob will be there, it's his contact's place. Good, I won't be alone then.

At this point, anyone who originally can't come but DO, are more then welcome! If your plans change, just come!

My show and tell this round:
- Shure wireless mics and innocinema Action Product XLR connection.
- 9inch Red Touch (too big for you? Come see).

Mike,

I don't have my Rokinon's anymore but I can tell you from my experience with them is that the 24mm is very very soft wide open, and suffers from a lot of CA. It's wide open performance doesn't impress, but when you step down to around 4 it performs very well. The 35 and 85 wide open are decent performers, but the 24 is just yuck.

Last reminder for this round. Come even if you did not RSVP (if you can make it last minute). Hope to see as many new faces and returning old mugs as possible. A chance to learn from each other and check out some toys!

Thanks to everyone that came out tonight even though the weather was just terrible. Great show and tell sessions. And finally thanks to Wil for organizing and bringing the snacks.

Until next time T.O Red Users!
