Last night Ted and RED JAPAN organized a RED USER PARTY at the RED JAPAN offices in Tokyo.
Ted was in with lots of goodies and talked a bit about the future...

On display were the Meizler module hooked up on a Epic along with wireless FIZ control (well really only FI, cause the Epic had a prime on it):

Ted showed of the new (coming soon) iPad app to control the camera and the Meizler module. This was truly amazing. The app goes waaaaaaaay beyond just controlling the camera. It looks like it is going to be an indispensable tool on any RED productions...

I will post some more pics soon...

The best part was to see Ted in a good health and as we say in Japan "genki"...

Hope You come back soon Ted!

reserved for more pics...

Epic Monochrome on the left, "normal" Epic with the Meizler module in the middle - shot on your truly's Scarlet... ;o)

The 4K EIZO monitor (image on the monitor is distorted on purpose):

The Meizler module closeups:

The "goodies" - from left to right:
- RED WIRELESS - the Epic was hooked up to the big plasma via wireless signal from the Meizler module and received by the plasma with this little device that converted the wireless HD video to HDMI
- the smaller REDMAG MINI (used to record proxies on the Meizler module) when compared to the standard REDMAG 1.8"
- Ted's iPad running the RED app... ;o)
- and the FIZ remote controller

I am not aware on anyone recording this event on video. I brought my Scarlet to test something I needed to on the Monochrome Epic and since I had it there - I have taken few "snaps".
I have also added few snaps from my iPhone of the Meizler and few other "goodies"

Enjoy

PS: Perhaps we should ask Yuki-san, the RED Ambassador at RED JAPAN, to record any future events and post them on their site... ;o)

Thanks Peter for posting the update from the Event, good coverage of what we showed and talked about for the Japanese RED user audience, was a fun and interesting evening at our new RED Japan Office right in the heart of Akasaka - I'm on my way back to the USA soon!

Hey Ted, when are you coming back to NYC to show off the new technology?

Good report Peter :) Nice to see a few familiar faces too!

Hopefully I and others can slowly convince Japan to start shooting more stereoscopic 3D as well! I'll be back in December for a shoot, hopefully in 3D, so fingers crossed!

Cheers,

Paul :)

Peter,
Your link goes to the wrong R3D (a shot of Epic with Meizler module).
If you have any other monochrome R3Ds, I'd love to see them.

My bad - fixed - go back to the post, new links are there...

The content of this picture needs to be credited as "Sengoku Bassara Moonlight Party" Copy right reserved Pony Canyon/RAWESOME!.

You mean the content of the image on the monitor in this picture... The focus (content) of this picture is the monitor - not what's on it. I have distorted the image on the monitor so it does not distract from the subject of this picture - the monitor itself...

I'm looking forward for the iPad app for sure!
