Red Sound Lag

I just hooked up with the sound guy that will be working on our short to test connections to his mixer. Sound was coming through great but he did notice something like a 4 frame latency. He'd snap his fingers and hear it a heartbeat later... I could see the levels spiking a little late too. We're assuming that the R1 records with no latency but that there is some delay before the meters respond and sound hits the headphones.

There has always been a latency issue with many digital cameras in monitoring due to the heavy processing involved. Shoot some test footage, take the files out, pull them into an editing workstation, and see if the sound and picture are in-sync on the editor's monitor. Bear in mind that many LCD and plasma sets add about a frame of delay to the picture.

I figured it was something like that... I haven't noticed any sync issues with sound in post so I assume we're all good. Thanks, Marc!
