I've just spent almost 2 hours on the phone arguing with some fedex representative. They are trying to charge me twice the VAT because, at leat in Spain and France 'Fedex won't issue temporal exports'. That's a point they did not reveal when charging 300+ EUROS for shipping my camera for MX updgrade.

That was a point I as aware of, so after several fedex representatives, I was told to send the camera with 3 copies of the invoice, red proforma for repair and a copy of the original bill showing import duties I paid. That was a failure, and after 3 weeks in customs (they were waiting for some paper from french customs), I still have no idea of when and how I'll get my camera back, and at what price.

Fedex in Europe is a defective service, and cannot be trusted for professional users, particularly when dealing with customs.

I think is about time for RED to offer an alternative, such as UPS, that could bring a complete service able to deal with all custom procedures.

fed ex europe is a bunch of losers. UPS has almost the same prices but at least they really call you if there are questions.

I just can agree! Good Idea!!!!! Had a lot of troubles when RED shipped my ProPrimeSet with fedex.

It´s time for Europe get support and sales in... Europe.
Im fed up of fedex and customs!!!

We are always investigating alternative solutions - like DHL or UPS for, example. The FedEx implosion in Germany recently was miserable...

And, yes, RED EUROPE can certainly assist you with sales and repairs. Contact info here: http://www.red.com/contact_us or redeurope - at - red - dot - com.

prooblem in berlin is that a lousy subcompany is doing the fedex stuff and this subcompany is shit like hell.
support and sales works great for me with pinewood!
fast, reposnsive, just great.
but this stupid driver from my area...

I recently shipped some very expensive motorsports parts to the US (from Uk) for some work on them,ie they had to return through customs and DHL provided a very helpful service and guide line for this.Without pre arrangement this process can turn into a nightmare with recharging of VAT.I`m speaking to them tomorrow and will see if i van locate a suitable guide for any Uk Mysterium X upgraders.

For MX upgrade, In France FEDEX has just gone crazy, they took the cam red and papers, then delivered it back 5 days later at its departure point, Paris, with no explanation.
By phone, they don't know "but you can fill a e-mail claim"
Then going to their office a kind of vague explanation comes: "they do not want to do temporary export"
So I suggest we bring this work and money to others!

to confuse things even more - i had very good experience with fed ex here in munich dealing with all my red shipments, my driver is a small greek guy who is very friendly and i have a very personal hostility against DHL ;-)

kind regards,
martin

DHL...?

Forget DHL. I've had an issue with some anamorphic glass coming from NZ to Portugal:

1) Defective information;

2) Defective communication;

3) Still waiting for a definitive response to my complaint from their Customer Care for about a month since their last communication, as of today !!

Forget to say, every cycle of about 10 days in this last month, I've asked them to enter a reply. After an earlier 'autism' to my prior and fair inquiry related to extra charges, they've even placed the merchandise as abandoned for further auction @ customs' department with no previous notice but with extra charges as consequence for about a month and ten days till now... Alleging as well, DHL NZ had not added response. Go figure!

As result to my vehement protest, silence so far. Succeeding my phone calls, the DHL officer in charge has advised me (through the DHL call-center assistant to serve as mediator last time!) I should re-send again the same email in order to solve the case inside DHL. 13 days ago... Today, I called the DHL customs chief. She said to me she had no information in any way other than as unlikely outdated, before my email of almost a month ago (succeeded by two emails more and two phone calls in the meantime) !!!
