Hi everyone, I hope this is the right place to ask. Thanks in advance for your help, and apologies if I’m doing this wrong. I’ve been a red scarlet dragon shooter since about 2014-15. I LOVE my scarlet dragon! It’s been an amazing camera and it still makes great images. However, it’s getting time I think I need to replace it. I was wondering if anyone has experience going from the scarlet dragon to the Komodo. We’re you happy with the transition? Obviously the camera is lighter and more convenient in many ways, but is the IMAGE QUALITY an upgrade? Are you as happy or even happier (fingers crossed) with the image quality of the Komodo?

New to the forum, own the Komodo. If I had the scarlet I would wish to have picked the Komodo without having to give away the Scarlet ;-)

Hi there, Josh. . .

I was in the exact same boat as you, having shot our two previous features with our Scarlet Dragon. I loved that camera, but it's about twice as heavy and just doesn't have the same bells and whistles (autofocus and RED Control, in particular). I don't notice a big difference between the images the two cameras produce, but I'm glad I made the switch for the weight factor, availability of service, and a few other features alone. As it happens, we bought two Komodos for our next feature.

The downside is that you aren't going to get much for your Scarlet in the resale market. I sold a very complete kit and it went for pennies on the dollar. Alas. . . the price of progress.

Stephen
