Hello,
I have been tasked to investigate a new Grading system for our Facility (albeit a less expensive grading suite). I was considering the option of waiting for the new Macs to come out with the open CL framework and Thunderbolt 2. I want to ensure we can grade with realtime playback with some secondaries. Do we think that the new Mac will do all it says it will?
Below is my purchase list. Any feedback would be great. Obviously below is just a list of items pertinent only to my question, peripherals are separate and not included.
6-Core Dual Processor Mac Pro Tower (Dual AMD 6GB of VRAM)
Sonnet Echo Express III PCIE Expansion
Promise Pegasus2 Series Storage Unit Thunderbolt (8-bay RAID 0)
Western Digital 4TB Hard Drives
Red Rocket-X PCIE Card
Decklink 4K extreme I/O Card
I was also wondering if anyone out there has some feedback on a Resolve/Smoke for Mac workflow. Smoke being used for roundtrip and HDSR output. Clients are typically cutting with FCP 7 and Avid.
