Hey Stephen, where are you based? What is the reason for the sale? Cheers!

This is NOT me. I have no idea how this happened. I've obviously been hacked.

Stephen

Thats crazy. The guy almost sold a Red DSMC 3 monitor to me! Wrote as Stephen via PM and then via mail. I have to say this is one of the more sophisticated scamming attemps I experienced and I almost fell for it. 1) Using an old legitimate profile with many posts. 2) Sending me pictures that were not traceable online 3) writing a very careful post above.

I almost paid the thing he send me via Paypal. What were the markers I became sceptical:

  1. Weird E-Mail.
  2. Not willing to do a Whatsapp/any type of call
  3. Not willing to give a website / different E-Mail.
  4. Send me a very weird PayPal invoice – even though on actual Paypal felt off. He told me the billing details I asked him to add would 'only be revealed after' which I never heard.
  5. Gave me an address that was off.
  6. And most importantly – the most consistent thing with scammers: THE DEAL IS KIND OF TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE: 1'800$ pristine looking DSMC3 monitor incl. shipping. Like the deal above for the Komodo-X is too good to be true.
BE AWARE people! This guy knows RED stuff very well, might even have the equipment and takes legit photos of it. I wonder how he hacks the accounts. An insider?

Thanks for looking into this for me. . . that's beyond my capabilities. I have no idea why he picked me. To my knowledge, I've never been hacked before, and am glad that you figured it out before it was too late!

Stephen

Even I was wondering if Stephen was getting rid of his KX was to my knowledge he was putting to good work making films.

I'm wondering if marketplace policies might consider a change with all of these recent scams.

Perhaps only allow posts from established sellers like Roberto Checa (FJS INTERNATIONAL), Brandon W (Cinema Cameras.com), or anyone with an actual established business reselling cinema gear.

Everyone else might require the item to be listed on a marketplace like eBay or Facebook so if there is an issue it can be dealt with on that platform.

Reduser is a small forum with what seems like a skeleton crew running it.

This forum is not equipped to manage these type of situations involving fraud some of which are international in nature.

I see the point, but this would essentially kill the marketplace. Scammers are sadly part of all the craigslist-like plattforms.

Gotta do the due diligence when buying. What would surely already help is if reduser has 2-F authentication.

But I still wonder who hacks reduser accounts and how?

FYI: This is how the invoice looks he sent me. No details, weird, not clear from which e-mail it comes. But it is on actual PayPal.
