  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

There is a very strong mis-conception that RED is available in India based on "The Hindu" Newspaper column about Alphonse ( Wildlife cinematographer), who shot on RED in USA. No one have RED in india till date. If anyone have RED available for rent in India, please post back to me gbalaji@gmail.com as I receive more than 10 emails or telephone calls per day. I know of people in India who have booked a Red camera. But I have no confirmation from anyone who actually has one in India. I do know for a fact that Red cameras have been here, probably hired from overseas.

And I know of at least one DP who has actually shot in Mumbai with a Red camera. I don't know where the camera came from, though.
 
Any Indian Music Arts shot on RED ?

I like Ravi Shankar a lot with his B son " G. Harrision " ( RIP ) since their 1st Live Aid concert in 1971 in States.

I worked with Nirav Shah's RED One (#469) as DAS / DAM for a Commercial and Music Video. Om is the DOP of the commercial. RED available for rental from India officially.

Customs duty and Vat in India?

Hi Guys.
Greetings from India.

Am getting my RED ONE Camera in couple of weeks and I would like to know more details about the customs duty and VAT that would be imposed on the camera?

I came to know through other European users that RED ONE being classified as a Digital Camera does not call for any duty.
Is it the same in India?

Please share your thoughts.

RED 1848 is available in Bombay with full kit. A Dell Precision T 7400 with 8 Cores and 8 Gbyte of Ram is also available. If someone need it on film shoot, get in touch with me at gian.joon@orcon.net.nz
