The problem of fraud in reselling RED cameras is clearly huge. I just logged on this morning to report of a 2nd attempt by scammers to obtain my RED ONE through ebay auction manipulation, only to find another member of the REDUSER community had just posted about the same issue.
It begs the question, could or would RED be willing to start a program that would at very least tell a potential buyer that a particular seller is in fact linked to a particular serial number? Perhaps just a forum page here on REDUSER.net. Owners could send a private email to RED stating their intention to sell their camera. RED could update a searchable list of serial numbers or something like that. Perhaps this could be tied to the transfer of ownership program. If an owner and a camera submit to this verification program, then that camera MUST undergo the transfer of ownership process. It would almost be like a 'certified pre-owned' process.
Any chance this could happen?
