One of my batteries pooped out????

It wont charge up and it also won't power up the camera.

At times it says it has 5 bars and other times 2 bars.

I called Red and they gave me the "Well...blah blah blah crap.."

Has anyone had this problem, and if so how did you solve it!

Thanks

Cowboy Bill

I would love to hear what the "Well...blah blah blah crap.." was that you were told..

Sounds like Seinfeld "yadda, yadda, yadda."

the " blah blah blah crap" "yada yada yada" went something like, we are not certified so u need to find someone who is and they can fix....

very disappointed!!!! Should I buy another 500 DOLLAR battery or find a Certified battery fixer or buy a battery back up system from office depot???

Follow this thread - I think I might have the solution to the problem. Loose wire in the battery :-)

My thread about how to fix the RED Bricks was deleted. I guess someone doesn't want the truth to be heard. This is indeed a sad day. I just lost a LOT of respect for RED. Sad sad sad.

Had a RED BRICK die on me today. Popped it in the charger and it flashes green/yellow, then after about 30 seconds it turns to solid red. Any ideas? I cannot recall if i sent in my batteries for a firmware upgrade---if we were supposed to do that??? At any rate, she just won't charge.

AYUDAME porfavor. Should we send batteries back to red for some upgrade if this happens?

So it was out of warranty period?

This isn't necessarily anything sinister - probably a liability issue. LiIon batteries are safety critical, and any encouragement for end users to open them up is probably going to be deleted however well intentioned. However - the forum moderator could have been more informative about it and posted why the post was deleted.

Having said that, if you are suitably qualified it sounds like an easy fix (love to have you email me off forum! I'm an electronic engineer)

So if the OP's battery is out of warranty, then I suggest they talk to the well known battery manufacturers like Anton Bauer, Swit, IDX, Hawke Woods, PAG UK to see if they are willing to take a look. That would be useful in the long run anyway as they might also do recells when your battery capacity starts dying due to old age.

Since RED outsource their battery manufacture (I'm guessing to Asia) they won't have inhouse facilities to repair or recell them.

Definately out of warranty period. BUT, not at all near the charge cycles of i believe 500. I'd say i'm at 150 to 200 charge cycles at most. So, could be the charger firmware or just something of a glitch with the battery.
