RED MASTER = RED Cine as the Master Format
RED MASTER = RED Cine as the Master Format
I'm hoping this is what is behind the rewriting of QuickTime. Hopefully Apple will trancode from any format (codec) to any other format on the fly internally or just playing back from a timeline.
Generic Media was an interesting Streaming start-up that did not survive, but the idea was sound. Upload once and deliver every format everywhere. Sounds like a good goal for RED Cine.
Adam Wilt is over at Omneon ( http://www.omneon.com ) and they too want to control the modern control room. Broadcasters may always want their expensive big server systems with limited formats, so RED RAW will be the producers pain to archive and RED Cine output could be accepted as a way to ingest finished projects without having to go to a tape codec.

Once it's delivered it never gets analog again (if it even was that to begin with). The tapes / discs are stored in the archive. Not sure what they do with the edited and finished items...
Obviously this workflow can be quite different from company to company. But I would think more and more are moving to such a digital workflow.
