Worked from home today. FedEx was coming.

Waiting, waiting, waiting...

Suddenly my cell phone goes off: FedEx telling me they've just LEFT MY RED ON MY DOOR. Aaaaaaarrrrrrgh!

I race outside. Yep. Two boxes, sitting on the door.

What the hell? No signature required? Twenty-five thousand dollars of camera and parts, my life savings, sitting on the door for anyone to take.

YO, RED... may I respectfully suggest, you REQUIRE SIGNATURES on Camera Deliveries, k?

The boxes are sitting in my room. Every so often I just peak up at them and smile. Opening day? One week from tonight, the first day Chris (my colleague) -- the shooter who has many pretty lenses, tripods, and most important, knows how to make the workflow work -- and I can make our schedules work.

We'll have photos for you shortly after.

Red #346 is in Seattle kids. It's a brand new day... and I can't stop smiling.

Same thing happened here - only my rep had not even sent me the tracking numbers so the boxes had been sitting on my front porch for hours before I arrived home from work and discovered them.

This has happened to others as well. I'd concur, make sure it requires signature. Not everyone lives in a nice neighborhood I'm sure, not to mention when the weather is bad, like the day mine was delivered, you don't want to be testing the camera's underwater abilities on day one. Fortunately, I hung out at my house the day the camera was delivered, so not a big deal, but others my need to have FedEx hold it if they can't be there to receive it.

Jesse, cool that you got your camera. Now go shoot some cool footage. I know you will.

Whoo Hooo! Can't wait to get it up and running!

I hope to hold a demo day with the Red in Seattle, once we get comfortable with it. Anybody got a space to hold an event? We'll supply the camera!

That's weird... I would assume a shipment insured for $25k would require a signature. Good to know for us future Red owners, though. Thanks for the heads up!

Anyway, congrats Jesse! How can you just stare at the boxes for a whole week? I wouldn't be able to resist... must... open... NOW. :)
