  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

recovering lost audio

Use Spotlight to search for the file, assuming you named it something specific.

QuickTime standalone is not a good tool for recording. You need a specialized application intended just for recording. Even something free like Audition can work, but if this is serious audio for a serious project, then you need something more fully-featured, like Pro Tools (preferably with timecode and metadata).

You could also try Prosoft's Data Rescue 3, which is an excellent utility I've used to recover accidentally-deleted files or files on crashed drives:

Not too many years ago, I sought out the Prosoft booth at a MacWorld show just to shake the hand of one of the engineers there and thank them profusely in person. I had had a horrendous crash that took out two 1TB drives, and Data Rescue got 100% of everything back. Took about 24 hours, but it worked extremely well. Very nice people, solid support.

I can't promise it will work in your case, but you can always try. They also have a paid-for service, The Data Rescue Center, which I haven't tried, but have heard good things about. Data Recovery services are not cheap.
